Activities

Early spring to late autumn                                                                                                                                                  FREE Wi/Fi

These are endless depending on your interests and how active you like to be.

For "WALKERS" this is a paradise waiting to be explored, indeed without even getting into the car you can take beautiful walks up and down the valley along the trout stream, or wander into the valley`s either side and have superb views along the way. A short car ride will open up more endless opportunities, and you would be unlucky not to see the odd deer on your travels as they even come onto our ground occasionally, as long as they don’t know you are there (very shy)..should you be interested in birds(red kites and buzzards a regular occurrence} red squirrel or wild life in general you would not be disappointed. Horses, cows and goats wander around freely up on the cols.

Action sports such as white water rafting, body boarding canyoning, parapenting, rock climbing, horse riding, golf or if swinging high in the trees or above a high cascade on an exciting obstacle course is your bag (not for the faint hearted ) it is all close by.

CYCLING of course is very popular here with the Tour de France actually passing our track and cycles of all description can be hired in the valley at a reasonable price. We can also give you contacts for guided rides for the length of time to suit depending on your energy levels full day or severel days.

SERIOUS CYCLISTS enjoy our location being between the 2 cols that most like to tackle,Col D`Aspin and of course the mighty Col de Tourmalet, very popular. We have a dry barn here to store bikes or work on them, this is also a very relaxing place to come back to at the end of the day with the "HEATED POOL" and the"HOT TUB"

MOTORCYCLISTS are also very welcome here with the barn for storage.

On the other hand you could relax here and do nothing! Our "Heated Pool" is available in the summer months and is kept on average at 30 deg and the 6 person "Hot Tub" is kept at 39 deg and is open to use year round.

WINTER brings a different kind of beauty and activity in the form of skiing and snow walking. Yes, you "WALKERS" don’t need to stay away in winter, it is a wonderland. You can hire snow shoes here and follow organised walks or go alone, though the guides tend to know the best places to take you.

The ski resort of La Mongie is just a few minutes from here by car but if you don’t want to drive (free parking)  there is a regular service bus up and down from resort, where there are shops including a supermarket and bars/restaurants with 100km of downhill skiing to include the resort of Bareges which is linked and a great ski over to treelined skiing, making this the premier ski resort in the Pyrenees.

There are also several areas around here for cross country skiing, snow walking and sledging

If you need a day off from skiing the cable car from La Mongie to the Pic de Midi makes for an interesting day and there is a bar/restaurant up there serving drinks and lunch.. There is also an option here to do an overnight stay and stargaze with a difference.

Places of interest

There are many depending how far you wish to travel, we are in the centre of the high Pyrenees so everywhere is accessible, but more locally is the spa town of Bagneres de Bigorre where you can just wander and have lunch or evening meal or you can visit the spa and relax with a choice of various treatments but the Saturday market may also interest you.

If you are interested in museums,an ancient abbey or a castle they are also close by.

Col de Toumalet will open up many more places to visit and is also one way to Lourdes and a visit to the Holy Shrine, but just driving over the col is an experience for the scenery alone and it is not at all far from here. You can actually walk the track up to Pic de Midi from there and the views are breathtaking, also accessable by cable car this is a worthwhile visit.

The other col close to us is Col d`Aspin also with outstanding views and will take you to the small town of Arreau and on to St Larry towards the tunnel through to Spain.

The general area here is one of great beauty and you will never be far away from wild flowers, a waterfall, a rushing river or a picturesque place for a picnic.
